Whether you’re any of the four, most love to play video games. Parents say that video games “rot” the brain but many teenagers beg to differ. “I’ve read that video games stimulate the mind for creativity,” Says a ninth grade student who asked for anonymity. “I admit I like violent video games but I’ve found some fun games for the Nintendo DSi that contribute to keeping the brain learning,” the student added.
The student recommends “Brain Age Express: Math” for Nintendo DSi if one is struggling with mathematics; “Brain Age Express: Arts and Letters,” if one has problems with English or literature; and “thinkSmart” to sharpen your thinking skills. These games enable one to exercise the brain in a positive and beneficial manner. While violent games may “stimulate” the mind, it offers no educational benefit.
The student said these three games prove that exercising your brain is important, her report card says as much.
She said she would like to tell her mother that not all games are out to rot the brains of millions of teenagers but carefully disclosed that it would be disrespectful to disagree with an elder.
