Alejandro Badilles, a Rota entrepreneur, opened his bakery in Songsong a few months ago and since then, he has been offering brand new products which he hopes will help promote his island.
Besides the pandesal (salt bread) laced with malunggay (Moringa oleifera), Badilles’ bakery has come up with a doughnut filled with sweet potato jam.
This is Rota’s alternative to imported doughnut fillings, Badilles said.
“We can now make delicious doughnuts without importing red beans and other fillings,” he added.
Sweet potato donut has now become Rota’s original delicacy.
It is best for coffee breaks, breakfast and even midnight snacks, Badilles said.
