GOLD’S Gym Saipan, in partnership with Michelob Ultra, PHI Pharmacy, Brabu Pharmacy & Wellness Center, and Turn Key Solutions, proudly congratulates the participants of the 2024 Gold’s Gym Transformation Challenge. The awards banquet held on Saturday, June 1, celebrated the achievements of all challengers, distributing over $6,700 in cash and prizes.
“This year we hit a new record of Challenge participants,” shared Gold’s Gym General Manager, Tyce Mister. “72 challengers began the 12-week transformation journey, and 50 completed the challenge. While the competition focuses on transformation, 95% aimed to lose weight. Collectively, these participants lost over 687 pounds, averaging 13.7 pounds per person, and nearly 4 inches off their waistlines. Simply amazing!”
Assistant Manager and Personal Trainer Michelle Masga emphasized, “This is a transformation challenge, not just a weight loss competition. We prioritize safety and encourage fat loss where necessary for better health, but we also aim to maintain or increase lean body mass.”
Special thanks to Michelle Masga, Ella Dela Cruz, and Ksenia Galadzhii for their role in documenting participants’ progress.
Jim Ada, the overall male winner, shared his mantra: “Choices are hard, but giving up is never an option.” Ada also secured 1st place for the most gym visits during the competition, losing a total of 36 pounds, including an estimated 40.0 pounds of body fat while gaining 4.1 pounds of muscle. Mister remarked, “You know you have a winner when judges ask if the before and after photos are of the same person.”
Leilani Deleon Guerrero, the overall female winner, expressed her motivation: “I took the Gold’s Gym challenge to improve my health physically, mentally, and emotionally. The gym is a safe space for me, surrounded by amazing, determined people.” She acknowledged the initial intimidation of joining the gym but advised newcomers to “continue showing up and trust the process.” She expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Gold’s Gym Saipan family, hoping to inspire others to join the health movement.
Kiana Sablan, Best Essay and 1st Place winner in the Women’s 18-29 Category, shared her transformative experience: “On the day that I signed up, I was sitting in the lobby staring at the flyers on the table. Brad Ruszala walked in and asked what I was doing, and I told him that I was contemplating joining. When I told him why, he said something to me that has stuck with me until today. He told me, ‘You have already won by joining and doing this for you.’ Within minutes, I asked for the application, paid my dues, and I was officially signed up for the Gold’s Gym Challenge.”
Challenger Dianne Mallari, unable to attend the banquet, shared her thoughts: “The awards ceremony is the best part of the Challenge! Thank you for giving the Gold’s Gym community an opportunity to take part in this annual event that brings family and friends together in healthy competition and the start or reset of a healthier lifestyle.”
