‘Music brings healing’

AFTER a few years of battling bipolar disorder in California, Jordan Paradise is now well enough to compose songs and teach others to write their own tunes.

“For me, music heals specially if it comes from the heart,” said Paradise, a substitute teacher at Saipan Community School.

During his high school days in California, Paradise said he was inspired by the music of 2Pac, Eminem and other hip-hop, R&B bands and rappers.

He wrote his first song when he was 17 years old, and it was about a girl who did him wrong.

“The verses just came to my head, and I started making rhymes and it was soothing,” he said.

Paradise believes that composing songs is therapeutic because it allows one to release “bottled emotions.”

“Music brings healing when you turn your experiences into a song,” he said. “The healing is not just on you but also for those who listen and can relate their past experiences with what you share through a song.”

Paradise believes his music can make a difference because he is sharing it with everyone through Spotify, YouTube and other online musical platforms.

“I share my music because it frees me. I believe there are many out there who can also write songs and be able to inspire others,” he said.

He released his first song last month and plans to write and record at least one song a month.

Paradise is accepting tutorial services on how to write a song from scratch, how to arrange the tunes and how to organize a song rhythm.

“Practice makes perfect,” he said. “You need to keep practicing because I can only help you build groundwork, but mastery is up to you through constant practice.”
