PACIFIC Development Inc. Managing Director Gordon Marciano said  Nippon Domannaka dancers are back on island after a three-year hiatus.

“They are back to celebrate Chamolinian Cultural Village Inc.’s 20th anniversary,” Marciano added.

“Despite the three-year lockdown due to the pandemic, we maintained our relationship with Nippon Domannaka through video presentations with the support of Gov. Arnold I. Palacios and Lt. Gov. David M. Apatang.  Both ensured that our relationship with Nagoya, Japan continues,” Marciano said.

The Nippon Domannaka Festival, commonly known as Domatsuri, is held each year at the end of summer in Nagoya.

In 2020, the CNMI Domatsuri team was named among the top 10 Domannaka dance groups. In 2021, the CNMI video won the best cinematography award, and in 2022, the CNMI received the best friendship video award.

For their support, Marciano thanked Pacific Trading, KKMP radio, the Carolinian Affairs Office, the Indigenous Affairs Office, the Saipan Mayor’s Office, the Marianas Visitors Authority, the Office of the Governor and PDI.

He also gave a “special shout out to our community, parents, and kids (dancers) for their continued support during the visits of our guests.”
