THE Joeten-Kiyu Public Library is celebrating its 32nd anniversary by offering a photo opportunity with Santa Claus and providing free gift wrapping, free library card replacements, and book-return fee waivers for this week, JKPL Director Erlinda Naputi said.
“As we celebrate our anniversary, we’re also trying to give back to the community,” she added.
Santa Claus will be available for a photo opportunity in the library from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22.
Naputi said the photos can be emailed to families and can be turned into commemorative souvenir buttons. The first button is free, and there is a $2 charge for each additional button.
The library is also offering free gifts for children, teens, and adults who check out books all through this week while supplies last. Youth community members get one free gift for every 10 books they check out. Adults receive a gift after checking out five books.
In addition, the library will also waive overdue fees for books that patrons have held onto past their return date. However, Naputi said to qualify, books need to be in good condition and free from damage.
For community members who need to replace their missing, old, or damaged library cards, the $5 fee will be waived if you visit the library on Friday, Dec. 22, Naputi said.
Moreover, library staff will be on hand to help with gift wrapping as well. Community members are allowed to bring in a maximum of three gifts for free gift wrapping.
