Strides for Pride on June 25 at Garapan Fishing Base

(Pride Marianas Youth) — Happy Pride Month! Pride Month is a global celebration, one where many collective voices unite to support an amazing cause and honor our LGBTQIA+ community. We want to encourage all partners and members to get involved and show support for our LGBTQIA+ community. Your continued support is crucial for a loving and accepting environment especially for our LGBTQIA+ youth. We are nearing the end of the month’s lineup of family events on the islands of Rota, Tinian, and Saipan for CNMI’s June Pride month activities. These series of events are intended to raise awareness, to celebrate and take PRIDE!

The CNMI had an amazing turn out of over 600 people who came to celebrate love at Pride at the Park, one of the many scheduled activities organized by Pride Marianas Youth with its champion partner agencies and sponsors for Pride Month. The event featured songs and dances, magic, family-friendly activities, educational resources, raffles and giveaways, as well as a specially-curated exhibit housed by the museum, which included the Stories of Pride from the Northern Marianas Humanities Council, the pride flag colors, art exhibits from allies, and posters highlighting Pride Marianas events throughout the years.

We are happy to invite you on behalf of PRIDE Marianas Youth, our partner agencies, our families and friends, and our allies who have come together to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ community for our CNMI’s main Pride event, this Friday, June 25, “Strides for Pride!” with registration from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Garapan Fishing Base across from Kristo Rai. There will be free Pride flags and free rainbow masks for the first 100 registered. This Youth Pride Walk / Parade will begin with a short Wave and then will “Walk & Roll” from the Garapan Fishing Base at 5:15 p.m. to American Memorial Park.

Once at AMP, the first 100 participants can avail themselves of free snacks and refreshments, some performances lead by the Humanities Council which will feature Pride Talks, a series of speakers and re-enacted Pride Stories, and then at dusk there will be a family friendly brief animation on growing up as transgender and then a documentary, “State of Pride.”

We expect to end at 8:30 so please bring snacks, water bottles to stay hydrated, and umbrellas and jackets in case it rains.

The Pride Talks event is intended to raise awareness and celebration. The CNMI will benefit with its proud partnerships for our youth and continuous promotion of diversity, inclusion, equality, and braver safer spaces for all! We would greatly appreciate your participation as part of this awareness event.

Thank you for your support to the LGBTQIA+ community and our youth and the continued efforts as their strongest ally all year long. This gesture is truly appreciated by our grassroots organization of family members, friends, allies, and members of our LGBTQIA+ members for an amazing cause.
