T Galleria by DFS, MVA aim to re-energize Garapan

DFS Group, the world’s leading luxury travel retailer, is continuing its commitment in supporting the local community by partnering up with the Marianas Visitors Authority to create a unique and memorable experience for visitors while bringing together local attractions, businesses, and destinations within the CNMI.

For the first time, T Galleria by DFS, Saipan and Marianas Visitors Authority partnered together to create “The Marianas Experience” a new interactive exhibition located at T Galleria, providing the community and visitors free enjoyable cultural activities on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and experimental education experience from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. daily.

“DFS has been a longtime member of the community, and this is just another way to connect with both our local residents and also give tourists to the island a place to go as a destination above and beyond the marine sports activities and other activities to really feel a sense of destination,” said DFS Managing Director Richard Gustafson.

On Thursday, Sept. 14, T Galleria by DFS, Saipan and Marianas Visitors Authority will have a special event to officially launch the Marianas Experience. Attendees will get to participate in cultural activities including “Mwar” a floral head lei making, banana art, frond weaving, live cultural performances and special in-store promotions to also celebrate Heritage Month! The event kicks off at 5 p.m. at the Marianas Experience in T Galleria.

“We are tremendously excited about the Marianas Experience and the unprecedented opportunity it brings to share our history and culture with visitors,” said Marianas Visitors Authority Managing Director Christopher A. Concepcion. “We invite every visitor to stop by to get a taste of the Marianas traditional way of life, our rich history, and our people.”

“Our visitors are always looking for ways to learn about our islands culture and history and connect with the locals, and the Marianas Experience is a great way to feature our Chamorro and Carolinian cultural heritage and share it with our visitors so they can make lasting memories and hopefully return one day soon,” said Marianas Visitors Authority Board Member Jamika Taijeron.

The Marianas Experience is also supported by Chamorro Carolinian Cultural Village Inc., the Commonwealth Council for Arts & Culture, the Northern Marianas Humanities Council, NMI Museum, Bridge Capital, Team PDI, CCVI Canoe Federation, Cultural Dancers Petlas and Simiyan Marianas, 500 Sails, and KKMP.
