The first step to your job destination

SHRM’s Josephine Mesta, Hyatt’s human resources manager, and Pauly Masga, Pacific Islands Club human resource manager, started off the first day on how to fill out a job application as well as write a résumé with only seven participants.

On the following day, 13 more people attended the workshop during which Mesta gave a power-point presentation on what to expect in an interview.

Mesta thoroughly went through the pros and cons of an interview, what to expect from the employer and what they would expect from you.

“The workshop was a success, the turnout was great although getting through and contacting people to come and attend was a slight issue” says Labor director of employment and job availability manager Alfred A. Pangelinan.

Pangelinan said the workshop is the first of its kind and it gives the applicants a more hands-on experience at a sociable level and shows them what to expect in the job society.

“Now applicants can take what they learned here and use it to apply for the jobs they want and qualify for,” he added.

“You took the first steps to your destination,” Pangelinan told the students.
