32 scholars meet sponsors

Donaven Deleon Guerrero, 9, said the program helped him remain in school.

To maintain his scholarship, Deleon Guerrero said he “studies hard and do good things.”

The 32 students met the Saipan SDA Clinic board of directors led by its chairman Louie Torres, who is also the Guam Micronesia Mission president, at the dental clinic in Chalan Laulau.

During a ceremony, Danielle Zayco and Mariol Joy Lopez delivered  brief thank-you messages.

They and the other students gave the board hand-made art cards to show their appreciation.

Torres thanked the board for its continued support for school children who will be the “future leaders.”

“Use your education to be the best you can,” he encouraged the students.

Zayco said she is very grateful because the program helps her and other families in these times of hardship.

“I will always do my best as a student,” she added.

Lopez said she will study hard to maintain her scholarship because “nothing is impossible if we only do our best.”

She is hoping to be a scholar again next year, saying “this will be a great help to my parents.”

School principal Michael Berglund and accountant/PR director Virle Shay Gayatin also joined the students in expressing appreciation to the board of directors.

Berglund said the board will continue to give the students the “first class Christian education.”

The other board members who attended the event were Guam Micronesia Mission treasurer Charles Reel, Alupong Beach Hotel president Steve Kasperbauer, Guam SDA Clinic director Chad Ordelheide, Guam Micronesia Mission secretary Remenster Jano, Guam SDA Clinic chief executive officer Koklian Lim, Saipan SDA Clinic director Ken Pierson, Saipan SDA Church pastor Carlos Sotomayor and Saipan SDA Clinic chief finance officer Ernie Lacorte.
