Aging Office staff, trainees celebrate Labor Day with potluck picnic

Aging Office Director Rose Mondala recalled the “grandiose” celebrations of government workers in the past years.

However, despite the government’s fiscal situation, the Aging Office was able to gather its staff and trainees under the Senior Community Employment Service Program or the Title V Program to celebrate Labor Day.

On Sunday, at the Carolinian Utt in Garapan, Mondala and over 20 employees gathered for a potluck  picnic.

“We should do this every Labor Day and also on Thanksgiving, and we also want the congregates to join,” she said.

Aside from feasting on kelaguen, fresh tuna sashimi, grilled seafood, fried chicken, pancit and salad,  Mondala said they also conducted a cleanup drive in the area.

“I am very happy and I’m enjoying myself,” said George William, a driver for 10 years at the Aging Office.

Carmen Khalequezamnan said it was her first time to join the office’s Labor Day celebration. “I am very happy and we love our director,” she said.

Remy Bowie, who works under the Title V program, said: “We are so thankful to our director for honoring us on Labor Day. The director is very good to us.”

Office on Aging staffer Alex Laniyo said the occasion also further strengthened the friendship among the employees.
