Artistic Discovery competition

The winning piece from the Northern Marianas will be displayed for a year alongside art from around the country at the U.S. Capitol, where members of Congress, staff, and visitors will see it every day.

Entries should be delivered to the congressional office on Saipan at JCT II Building, Susupe, open weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Entries may also be mailed to P.O. Box 504879 Saipan, MP 96950.

The winning entry will be announced by May 24, 2010.

OPA advisory

(OPA) — Staff from the Office of the Public Auditor will be in Rota on Thursday, April 29,  and on Tinian on Friday, April 30, to notarize and accept last-minute filings of financial disclosure statements from government officials.

Filers on Rota may visit the mayor’s office from 12:30 noon to 4:30 p.m. on April 29. Filers on Tinian may visit the casino gaming control commission conference room from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on April 30.

All filers are reminded to bring with them some form of photo identification, such as a driver’s license or a passport. Failure to do so may result in the denial of notary services.

Saipan mayor’s office major sponsor of 2010 MMAC

(MMAC) — The Saipan Mayor’s Office has officially been named a “major” sponsor of the 2010 Marianas March Against Cancer.  The  mayor’s office will be donating a water buffalo, 10 picnic tables and one serving table for use throughout the night.  It will also be providing manpower throughout the event to assist with security, the installation of lighting equipment and other logistical support as needed.

“The Saipan Mayor’s Office has been providing assistance to the Marianas March Against Cancer on an annual basis.  We would like to thank the honorable Mayor Donald Flores and his staff for their untiring support in the fight against cancer,” said 2010 MMAC public relations committee chairman Christopher A. Concepcion.

Cancer survivor support meeting today

ALL cancer survivors are invited to the survivor support meeting scheduled today, April 21, in the Hyatt Chamolinian Room starting at 6 p.m.

Free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings will be offered, followed by a presentation on meditation and breathing exercises for stress relief and wellness, and then a survivors-only discussion.
