These staff members model the passion, drive and caring that all educators strive to have for the children of our community and their needs and dreams.
Catherine Acera-Cabrera is SAES 2009 Teacher of the Year.
Cabrera is not only an active and dynamic 6th grade teacher, but she also volunteers for and works tirelessly on whole-school issues.
Cabrera has been with SAES for nine years, and among her many responsibilities, she is the overall Accreditation co-chair, as well as the leader for ongoing development of the school-wide learning goals.
She is the team leader for SAES Resource Development and the chairperson for numerous school activities, such as the Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, and Math Challenge. Cabrera is one of those extraordinary people for whom teaching is not only a vocation, but also a joy, a daily discovery and an avocation.
She can take the reluctant reader, the scared or shy student, and the sad child, and through her talents, find subtle ways to build the confidence of the child and unlock the potential within. Cabrera will pursue her graduate studies in Educational Leadership in Spring 2010.
Ronald Olopai is the SAES 2009 Teacher Aide of the Year.
Olopai is an essential part of the many activities at SAES, from teaching reading to teaching physical education classes and coaching after-school sports. He also volunteers at the Ada Gym and shares the skills he learns there with the SAES students.
Manny Quitaneg is SAES 2009 Support Staff of the Year.
Quitaneg has been with the Octopus Family for over ten years and has been responsible for SAES’ award-winning campus environment. His exemplary attendance and his hard work and dedication to SAES have led him to be chosen as the SSOY for the third time in the past ten years.
