CUC schedules power outage

Gary P. Camacho, power division manager, said the power outage will affect three laterals on the Kiya 4 circuit and will start at 7:30 a.m. Power will be restored at 10:30 a.m.

The CUC linemen will replace two deteriorated power poles and 25 pole top pins in the Oleai village area, he said.

The specific areas to be affected will be from Kim‘s Tofu Store on Oleai St., toward  Ellegh Ave., Falasow Pl., Maas Ln. and portions of Texas Rd. from Chalan Monsignor Guerrero to Oleai Elementary School.

Camacho said the vegetation management crews will also utilize the power outage to remove any hazards currently affecting the high voltage power lines.

These efforts are part of the ongoing maintenance program that will continue throughout the island over the next few weeks, he said.

Other areas of the electrical grid will also be assessed and any needed repairs will be scheduled and performed accordingly, he said.

He said these maintenance activities along with others to be announced later are part of CUC’s efforts to minimize storm disruptions during the typhoon season.

Because of the extreme danger in working on energized lines, the power outage is necessary to ensure safety to the line crews, he said.

Affected areas:

Kiya 4, First Partial Laterals (7:30 a.m. through 10:30 a.m.)

Streets that will be affected: Oleai St., Ellegh Ave., Falasow Pl., Maas Ln. and portions of Texas Rd. from Chalan Monsignor Guerrero to Oleai Elementary School.

CUC apologizes for any inconvenience this power interruption may have on the community. It promises to continue working diligently to minimize future interruptions.
