Free health services

Ronnie Doca, the church spokesman, said the turnout has been consistently huge.

“We are also impressed by the astounding and continuous support of the volunteers,” he said.

The community members representing the islands’ diverse ethnicities have been “blessed” with the health services, he added.

Doca said the program held at their San Jose church, which is  celebrating its 12th anniversary, was also “very successful” with 22 individuals availing of spiritual counseling.

They provided free haircut to 22 individuals; blood pressure examination, 38; sugar check up, 39; reflexology and therapy, 18; facial massage, 13; and eye check up, 13.

Doca said 77 individuals received free giveaways which included toothbrush, dental floss, bath soap, tissue, face towel and other gift items.

Northern Marianas College nursing department instructor Hervin Jacinto said they five of their students  are volunteers in the church’s free health outreach.

“The students are very happy to extend their services to the community,” he added.

Other volunteers are from Marianas Eye Institute and church members.

Doca said the success of the outreach can also be attributed to their sponsors: Seventh-day Adventist Dental Clinic, TransAmerica, Kevin’s Department Store and TSL Plaza.
