Those who graduated the class formed the Saipan Building and Fixing Computer Users Group with Mar Masilungan, a volunteer instructor at the Filipino Workers Resource Center, as its founder.
Last Saturday, the group celebrated its fifth anniversary at the Chalan Kanoa Beach Club.
The gathering was also arranged to give Marilyn Quebral, the group’s treasurer, her farewell party.
According to Masilungan, Quebral is leaving Saipan to work at the FSM Social Security Office as information technology manager.
“The group is very proud to say that she is one of the products of users group who meet our vision to produce more IT from our members,” Masilungan said.
At present, the group had produced 47 certified service technicians who used to study the building and fixing computer class, he said.
Masilungan, a certified test administrator for Electronics Technician Association based in Indiana, USA, administered the examination for the computer class to become a certified computer technician.
In his brief message, Masilungan thanked all of the members for staying connected and focusing towards their goals.
“We are grateful for the many certified technicians who are willing to train new members who also aspired to become certified technicians,” he said.
“Their untiring support is overwhelming,” he added.
Masilungan said he is currently teaching 32 students for the batch 9 of the building and fixing computer class.
Conducting a review class for the examination is one of the greatest challenges Masilungan will be facing for 2012.
By next year, he said he is planning to have an annual conference to broaden their skills and learn more about the course.
The officers for 2011 are Zaldy Quebral, as chairman; Edmin Elayda, vice chair; Angel Deliva, secretary; Chu Calinahan, assistant secretary; Marilyn Quebral, treasurer; Rolan Conde, assistant treasurer; Carlos Cortez, auditor; Jun Florentino web administrator and Alex Racoma, liason officer.
The advisers are Masilungan, Cris Hilario, Jousel Regilme and Amado Tumbaga.
