Then he mixed them with water and brewed the concoction in a steady but low heat until it becomes light-brown in color like tea.
Luis P. Blas has been preparing this herbal medicine after he saw his mother, Anna, in a dream one Friday night three years ago.
Her mother, a known herbalist on island, died a year before the dream.
In his dream, Luis learned about the various types of plants and roots and their medicinal values.
He said his mother showed him what plants to prepare to cure his ailment at that time.
“When I woke up I immediately went to the ranch and picked up some leaves,” he said.
From that day on, he started drinking the herbal medicine and “my health is still doing good.”
Luis, 64, still leads a very active life and is an employee at the Department of Public Work’s maintenance section.
“I used to feel dizzy. I went regularly to the hospital for three months but nothing happened. But thanks to this medicine now I’m okay,” he said.
He said his girlfriend, Maria Ayuyu, was suffering from asthma but “all her pain was gone when she drank the medicine.”
In his small house in Laolao, Luis expressed satisfaction with his life, his fighting cocks and his special medicine.
He said he cannot reveal the names of his medicinal plants until he can finalize his plan to mass produce his medicine.
Luis also wants to apply for a grant to help develop more herbal medicines.
He also shares his medicine with friends and acquaintances.
“They keep coming back to ask for the medicine,” he said.
All he asks in return is a donation of $5 to $7 for every gallon of his medicine.
But those who have no money, can have it for free. “I am just happy to help them and see them healed,” he said.
Luis said his medicine can also improve the sexual drive of a person. “It’s very effective,” he added, smiling.
