NMC names new archivist

“We are pleased to have John on board at NMC,” said acting NMC interim president Barbara Merfalen. “His experience in the field of law and information analysis will be beneficial to the organization of important historical documents at the archives.”

Before starting out at NMC, Cook served as a law clerk for Associate Justice Alexandro C. Castro of the CNMI Supreme Court. Prior to working for Castro, Cook also served as a law clerk in the Rhode Island trial court system.

Cook received his bachelor’s degree from Yale University, his master’s degree from Oxford University, and his law degree from Duke University School of Law. He is a member of the state bars of New York and Connecticut and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces.  

KagHS PTSA and 2nd quarter progress report

(KagHS) — PSS Dietitian’s Presentation, Turn-Around Status Report & PTSA planned activities will highlight Kagman  High School’s PTSA meeting on Dec. 20 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria.

The students’ progress reports will be also issued by their teachers from 4 to 6 p.m., for all subjects.

Parents and guardians should ask their children for their 1st to 4th period teachers’ names and classroom numbers.

This way, you will know where to go when you are getting their progress reports.

Students will be dismissed at 12 noon.

Friends of the Arts community announcement

(FOA) — The Friends of the Arts will be presenting its annual holiday performance on Dec. 17, 18 and 19, 7 p.m., at the American Memorial Park’s indoor theater.

The play,  “Farndale Avenue Housing Estate Townswomen’s Guild Dramatic Society Production of A Christmas Carol,” is a hilarious comedy inspired by Dickens’ “A Christmas Carole.”

You can order season (three plays left at $30 for adults $20 for children) or single performance tickets ($12 for adult FOA members, $15 for adult non-FOA members and $10 for students and children older than 4 years of age) from Frank Gibson at flgibson@yahoo.com.

The first two performances are by ticket, and the third requires a donation to the Salvation Army for admission.

(COJHS) —  Chacha Oceanview Jr. High School will have its 2nd quarter mid-progress report and PTSA meeting on Dec. 16, Thursday, 5 to 6:30 p.m. Parents, guardians and members of the  community are urged to attend the meeting.

MHS mid-progress report

(MHS) — On Dec. 16, Thursday, Marianas High School students will be released at 1 p.m.

The Mid-Progress Open House & Distribution will be from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Parents/guardians are encouraged to visit each teacher to view individual subject progress reports for their children. Students age 18 and above may pick up individual progress reports.
