Representatives of Veterans Affairs, Argosy U., Ashford U., Embry Riddle A.U., Hawaii Pacific U., Jones International University, Northern Marianas College, Thomas Edison State College, and Wayland Baptist U. will be available to answer questions, discuss distance learning options, and various degree plans to include undergraduate and graduate.
Dr. Donna Duellberg, Coast Guard director of education for Region 14, and Marsha Wellein, Army Reserve regional director of education for Pacific and Asia, will be also available at the fair to discuss financial aid, the GI Bill, funding for college online programs and direct instruction, etc.
The VA counselor will be happy to provide assistance and information to veterans, retirees, active duty as well as reserve military personnel, and family members.
Civilians from the community area encouraged to attend this special event, and talk directly to the college representatives, many of whom have flown in from Hawaii and the U.S. mainland.

MHS laptop stolen, reward offered
(MHS) — Sounds of “congratulations!” filled Marianas High School last Monday after the graduation ceremony.
Unfortunately, the video production laptop that was used throughout the ceremony was stolen during this time.
“To whoever stole this laptop, shame on you! Shame on you for stealing from the students of MHS. That laptop had student’s video projects and months of hard work. Some of the items are recoverable, but some of them are not,” said instructor Jojo Alepuyo.
MHS is offering a reward for its safe return with no questions asked. Please bring the laptop to the main office at MHS.
Hopwood summer program
(HJHS) — Hopwood Junior High School’s summer school program will commence on June 29, Tuesday.
Classes are from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Food will not be provided, so parents are encouraged to provide snacks for their child. Bus services will be made available for qualified students, for the duration of the program.

85 teachers to earn special education degree
MANGILAO (UOG) —The University of Guam School of Education is hosting the fourth Annual Special Education Summer Institute, which started on June 1 and ends July 30.
There are 34 graduate and 25 undergraduate students enrolled in 16 courses. Two teachers from Rota in the CNMI are participating in the summer program.
The summer institute was launched in 2007 to prepare certified special education teachers to teach in public schools.
By the end of July, 85 master of education special education certified teachers and 15 bachelor-level teachers will have completed the program since its inception.

(PAWS) — A dog was found in the Papago area on June 17, 2010. He is described as an unneutered male boonie dog with black and tan markings that is thought to be about 5-7 years old. He is has short ears and a friendly personality.
