Schorr files suit for malicious mischief

The lawsuit seeks to recover the monies Schorr had to spend to replace his tires as well as punitive damages for the “malicious mischief” and trespass.

The suit seeks an injunction to prohibit any further trespass by the two neighbors.

“This is a very uncomfortable situation for Mr. Schorr,” said his attorney, Robert O’Connor, “Both of these men are still his neighbors and neither of them has offered to pay for the damage. Mr. Schorr felt he had no choice but to file suit.”

Hiroshima Rotarians to visit Saipan

A SCHEDULED direct flight from Hiroshima, Japan to Guam on Feb. 6 is going to make a stopover first in Saipan before reaching its final destination, a media release stated.

Some Hiroshima Rotarians who are among travelers heading to Guam decided to make the CNMI their destination and paid Continental Airlines an extra 1 million yen, or almost $11,000, to make a short stop on Saipan.

The Rotary Club members from Japan are with the Route Inn group, which is one of the many sister companies of the ARK chain of hotels.

One of the ARK sister hotels on Saipan is Hafa Adai Beach Hotel.

The visitors have planned out their itinerary, from sightseeing, golfing to site inspection at the manamko’ center, to mention a few of their scheduled activities.

They also want to conduct a short ceremony at the Japanese memorial in Marpi on Feb. 7, and are inviting the public to join them to pray for world peace and for those who perished during World War II. The ceremony will take place at 4:30 p.m.

The Marianas Visitors Authority, PDI and R&C are working side by side to provide a warm welcome at the airport with banners and with local performers, as well as to show island hospitality and extend the much needed support for the memorial service.
