Second Saturday Strides are monthly 3k fun runs/walks to raise funds for cancer programs and promote healthy physical activity in the community. The Strides will be held on the second Saturday of every month, starting on Aug. 14, 2010. Volunteers are needed to help plan and promote the event, sign up sponsors, register participants, and assist at the aid stations. Exhibitions promoting a healthy lifestyle will also be solicited and encouraged.
The Commonwealth Cancer Association is a commuity-based nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicating to promoting public awareness about cancer prevention and screening, and providing support for cancer patients, survivors, and their families.

The camp will offer the CNMI’s youth the educational environment to instill in themselves good character, training in the responsibilities of participating citizens, opportunities for learning and developing leadership skills, and activities promoting good moral, mental, and physical fitness.

Green Meadow School registration
(GMS) – Green Meadow School enrolment is going on for pre-school: K3 – K5, (K3 & K4 is offered at Dandan and Gualo Rai Centers).
Elementary: 1st to 6th Grade. Classes start on August 9, 2010

Musical recital
KEYNOTES School of Music will be holding its 2010 summer musical recital on July 30, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the multi-purpose center in Susupe.
Students from summer programs who are mostly beginners in music education will be featured in the recital titled “The Magical Beginning.” The recital is open to the public.
PAWS meeting
(PAWS) — Pet Assistance and Welfare Services will be hosting a general meeting, open to the public, on Thursday, July 29, at Shenanigan’s in Garapan at 5:30 p.m.. The purpose of the meeting is to solicit volunteers for the organization.
Volunteers are needed to answer calls to the PAWS hotline (285-PAWS), pick-up and/or advertise unwanted and abandoned animals, and reach out to the public.

Calvo & Clark’s Bill Hebert elected president of California State Bar
(C&C/San Francisco) — Bill Hebert, a partner in Calvo & Clark’s San Francisco office, was elected the 2010-2011 president of the State Bar of California on July 24.
Hebert, 49, will be sworn in as the 86th president of the 228,000-member organization at the State Bar’s September annual meeting in Monterey.
Hebert’s partners at Calvo & Clark have also been bar association leaders. Guam partner Mike Pangelinan is currently vice president of the Guam Bar Association and managing partner Rodney Jacob is a past president.
Although based in San Francisco, Hebert is also a member of the bar for Guam, as well as the CNMI, and appears frequently in local and federal courts on Guam and Saipan on business litigation matters.
