$100,000 bail for man accused of sexually molesting daughters

SUPERIOR Court Associate Judge Wesley Bogdan imposed a $100,000 cash bail on a man who is accused of sexually molesting his two daughters.

The 40-year-old man was charged with sexual assault in the first degree, attempted sexual assault in the first degree, incest, and disturbing the peace.

Judge Bogdan remanded the defendant to the custody of the Department of Corrections. The defendant was ordered to return to court on March 30 at 10 a.m. for a preliminary hearing, and on April 4 at 9 a.m. for an arraignment.

At the hearing on Wednesday, the defendant was represented by Assistant Public Defender Vena Seelam while chief prosecutor Chester Hinds appeared for the government.

According to the complaint, on March 18, 2022, a Department of Public Safety officer responded to a reported disturbance at a residence in Oleai.

The police officer met with a woman who appeared to be shaking and crying and had mud on her feet and legs. She was later identified as the defendant’s wife.

The wife told the police that she wanted her husband arrested.

According to the wife, the defendant was mad at her and her daughter because the wife caught him molesting their daughter.

The wife told investigators that in a separate incident four months ago, she said she saw the defendant naked in her daughter’s room. She said she could not believe what she saw.

She said the defendant apologized to her.

In Jan. 2022, she said she again saw the defendant naked and this time with their other daughter.  She said the defendant apologized again.

The wife told police that the defendant’s family “uses drugs and always provides him with drugs, which caused him to act in this way.”

But she also said she “couldn’t believe that he would do this to their daughters.”

The daughters told police that the defendant had touched them inappropriately. One of them said he had sexually assaulted her.
