134 head to shelters

A TOTAL of 134 individuals sought refuge in the designated shelters on Saipan, Tinian, and Rota Wednesday afternoon.

Marianas High School cafeteria shelter manager Melanie Rdiall said there were a total of nine families or 43 individuals currently in shelter.

“We can accommodate up to 100 individuals in this shelter, and if needed we can open a secondary shelter within the campus,” Rdiall added, referring to the old cafeteria.

Rdiall is working with Peter Deleon Guerrero who told Variety that of the 43 individuals, the youngest is 2 years old while the oldest is 79 years old.

He said that they were expecting more individuals to move into the shelter if the winds become stronger.
