The participants received their certificates on Thursday from PCC President Dr. Patrick U. Telei.
Willy Wally, PCC’s dean for continuing education, said the group was the seventh to have completed the program which provides free basic Mandarin lessons to government employees and private individuals.
He said the program is funded by a grant from Taiwan, Palau’s main tourism market.
“We try to help people to understand the Chinese language so that we can welcome the Chinese community to Palau,” Wally said.
The program is specifically for government agencies that deal directly with Chinese community such as Immigration, Labor and the airport.
Wally said the next class will begin in January.
“The program is not only for government agencies but also for other individuals who are interested to learn the language,” he said.
Wally said anyone interested may call 680-488-6223.
