Festus Ringang, election officer III, said Aloisius Tellei and Kazuo Asanuma are the two contenders vying for the gubernatorial post.
On April 19, was the deadline of filing for nominating petition as well as the request to vote for the absentee voting.
Ringang, however, said there were no requests received by the PEC from the absentee.
There are two polling precincts confirmed by the PEC during the Special Election. One will be at the Melekeok State Office and the other one is at the PEC office.
The voting will start from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Ringang said after the closing time, all ballot boxes will be taken to PEC office andthe counting and canvassing of votes will start.
He said Melekeok States has an only 578 registered voters; the canvassing of votes will take an hour to be completed.
The special election will be conducted to fill-in the seat vacated by former Gov. Lazarus Kodep who was sentenced to five years in imprisonment and fined of $10,000 because of his criminal charges.
Kodep accused of converting public funds to his own use on at least 100 occasions between 2003 and 2007.
