Incumbent Governor Edwin Chiokai and Jeffrey Titiml are the two candidates vying for the gubernatorial seat.
For the legislature, there are 18 candidates seeking for the 12 legislative seats. They are: Clifford Poch Osima, Inawo Sebaklim, Richard Ngiraked, Ricky Ngiraked, Harrington Olebuu, Valentina Bangiar Omelau, Keity M. Bandarii, Elmis Ruluked, Stevenson Mokisang, Roman Mongami, Kurt Ngiraked, Esichang Takawo, Asailee M. Yamada, Niro Bandarii, Francisca Skiwo, Jack Ngiraked, Hadley Hesus and Midas Ngiracheluolu.
May 10 was the deadline of filing for the nominating petition while April 26 was the last day of registration for the new voters. Meanwhile, June 1 is the deadline for the Election office to receive absentee voting, seven days after the election.
Palau Election Officer Lulu Ermaluuk said Kayangel State has 417 registered voters.
She said there are two polling precincts designated on election day. One is at the Kayangel State and one will be at the Koror State. However, the Election office is still looking for the possibility of setting up the central box in Koror.
The Kayangel State Election is conducted every last Tuesday of May. Elected officials have a term of two years in office.
Meanwhile the election for the States of Ngiwal and Ngarchelong is set on August and for the Angaur State, the 15th General election is scheduled on November.
