2 House members join Covid-19 task force

SPEAKER Edmund S. Villagomez has appointed Reps. Tina Sablan and Leila Staffler as the House representatives to the Governor’s Covid-19 Task Force.

Villagomez informed Gov. Ralph DLG Torres of the appointments in a letter last week.

Sablan chairs the House Committee on Health and Welfare while Staffler is the vice chair.

Created in March 2020, the task force included the Office of the Governor, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp., the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, the Commonwealth Ports Authority, the Marianas Visitors Authority, the Department of Public Safety, the Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services, the Department of Finance, Northern Marianas College, and the Public School System.

The governor appointed CHCC Emergency Preparedness Director Warren Villagomez to chair the task force.

The governor also invited the Legislature to name its representatives to the task force.
