HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — Three men were charged in the Superior Court of Guam on Tuesday in connection to possessing methamphetamine.
Three separate traffic stops by officers with the Guam Police Department on Monday resulted in three men being charged with possession of a Schedule II controlled substance as a third-degree felony.
One of the three men was 54-year-old Excellency Nanoto, who was pulled over for a defective license plate on a Nissan Armada he was driving near Benavente Middle School in Dededo.
According to court documents, Nanoto was asked if there was anything inside the vehicle before responding, “It’s in my cigarette pack” and confirming he was referring to methamphetamine.
Nanoto then handed the officer a resealable bag containing the drugs.
Dayrit
Another man charged was Michael Angelo David Dayrit, 28, who was pulled over for a traffic violation. Officers asked him for “standard paperwork.”
Court documents state police saw Dayrit “shaking and his voice was wavering during the encounter.” Then Dayrit was seen grabbing an item that appeared to be a wallet that he tried to hide underneath the driver’s seat.
Officers later found a brown coin purse containing a glass pipe and three resealable baggies containing a white crystallized substance, later determined to be methamphetamine.
Cruz
A third man, Juan Toves Cruz, was driving on Route 28 and approaching the Route 3 intersection when he ran a red light and was pulled over by police.
Cruz told officers he had a gun behind the driver’s seat but that he did not have a valid firearms ID. Police then found a Charles Daly 1911 Auto Pointer Shotgun, two Winchester shotgun rounds and an improvised glass pipe with a frosty residue in the vehicle, according to court documents.
The gun was unregistered, and a test of the pipe resulted in a presumptive positive for methamphetamine.
Cruz allegedly admitted to owning the firearm and pipe.
In addition to the drug charge, Cruz was charged with possession of a firearm without a firearms identification card and possession of an unregistered firearm as third-degree felonies.
