37 new Covid-19 cases; more than 100,000 vaccines administered since Dec. 2020

(CHCC) — Thirty-seven cases have been confirmed positive for Covid-19, bringing the CNMI total to 3,598 cases since March 28, 2020. The individuals have been isolated and are actively monitored.

As of Jan. 7, 2022, there have been 2,826 recoveries made, 465 active cases, and 19 deaths since March 2020.

As of Jan. 8, 2022, there were 14 individuals hospitalized as a result of Covid-19 (7 unvaccinated, 7 vaccinated; 2 on a ventilator).

More than 100,000 vaccines have been administered since they have been available in the CNMI a little over a year ago.

A total of 718 Covid-19 vaccine shots were administered on Jan. 8, 2022, resulting in 96.7% of the CNMI’s eligible population being fully vaccinated, which affords the community more protection against severe illness, hospitalization, and death.

Of the 37 new cases, 17 were identified via contact tracing, 11 were identified via community testing, and 9 were identified via travel testing.

The vaccination statuses of the 37 cases identified are pending verification.

Since Oct. 28, 2021, there have been 3,307 new cases, of which 1,606 were identified via contact tracing, 1,591 were identified via community testing, and 110 were identified via travel testing.

A total of 453 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Jan. 7, 2022, which comprises travel and surveillance testing but does not include DFEMS testing.
