According to the statistics that Raynold Mechol, Chief of Division of Research & Evaluation provided, 105 have high school diplomas and teaching experience in Headstart; 98 have Associate Degrees or finished a two-year course in college; 49 have Bachelors Degree or finished a four-year course in college and 11 have masters degree. However, Mechol said they are hoping an increase of 38 percent by the end of this month because some of the teachers are working on the online course for teaching at the San Diego State University.Mechol said 19 teachers are going to complete the online course program by the end of this month.“We are anticipating an increase of the number of teachers who will have an Associate Degree,”Mechol said.“We are trying to address that problem that’s why PCC has this program like the teachers have to earn certificate of achievements for them to complete one year of schooling at the PCC. This program is for the teachers who only have high school diplomas or teaching experience from Headstart.”“We are trying to improve the teaching skills of the teachers by providing them online programs and trainings. We want to give our students quality education and we can only do that by hiring highly qualified teachers who possess skills and who is equipped with enough knowledge,”Mechol said.
