53 new Covid-19 cases

(Commonwealth Healthcare Corp.) — Fifty-three additional individuals have been confirmed positive for Covid-19, bringing the CNMI total to 4,067 cases since March 26, 2020. The individuals have been isolated and are actively monitored.

Of the 53 cases identified on Jan. 18, 2022:

21 were identified via contact tracing, 28 via community testing, and 4 via travel testing.

As of Jan. 19, 2022, there were 7 individuals hospitalized as a result of Covid-19: 4 were unvaccinated while 3 were vaccinated.

A total of 130 Covid-19 vaccines were administered on Jan. 19, 2022, resulting in 98.1% of the CNMI’s eligible population being fully vaccinated.

The vaccination statuses of the 53 new cases identified are pending verification.

A total of 480 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Jan. 18, 2022:

369 community-based testing

80 at the Covid-19 Community Center (referrals only)

16 at Tinian Health Center

15 at Rota Health Center

Of the total cases identified as of Jan. 18, 2022:  there had been 3,632 recoveries  and 414 active cases.

1,854 of these cases were identified via contact tracing; 1,757, community testing; and 456, travel testing.

Since March 2020, there have been 21 Covid-19-related deaths.
