7 get jail time for DUI

SUPERIOR Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo on Wednesday found Jingyou Hong, Eddie C. Norita, Reymundo Estimo, Gerardo DLC Vinuya, Guadencio Reyes Jr., Nino Randy Carmona and Irvin Q. Saralu guilty of driving under the influence of alcohol.

In separate judgment and commitment orders, Judge Govendo ordered each of the seven defendants to pay a fine of $500, and to perform 40 hours of community service. In addition, they will be placed on one-year probation, and will pay a probation and court fee in the amount of $125, the judge added.

Hong was sentenced to three days in jail with credit for 12 hours of time served.

Judge Govendo ordered Hong to report to the Department of Corrections on Jan. 21 at 6 p.m. to serve his sentence.

Norita was sentenced to four days in jail with credit for 12 hours of time served. He was ordered to report to Corrections on Jan. 5 at 6 p.m.

Estimo was sentenced to serve four days in jail with credit for 12 hours of time served. He was ordered to report to Corrections on Jan. 6 at 6 p.m.

Vinuya was sentenced to three days in jail with credit for 12 hours of time served. He was ordered to report to Corrections on Jan. 20 at 6 p.m.

Saralu was sentenced to serve three days in jail and was given credit for 12 hours of time served. He was ordered to report to Corrections on Feb. 10 at 6 p.m.

In his order, Judge Govendo noted that Reyes and Carmona refused to submit to a sobriety test.

Reyes was sentenced to three days in jail and was given credit for 12 hours of time served. He was ordered to report to Corrections on Jan. 6 at 6 p.m.

As for Carmona, Judge Govendo sentenced him to three days with credit for 12 hours of time served. He was ordered to report to Corrections on Jan. 8 at 7 p.m.

Chief Public Defender Douglas Hartig represented the defendants while Assistant Attorney General Dejon Redd appeared for the government.
