During a recent “Community Get-Together” at Ngarchelong on July 26, activities were organized to emphasize the need to keep the youth from consuming alcohol and from using other illicit substances.Dwelyne Ngirailild, the state’s youth representative to the Council of Chiefs and the State Incentive Grant, said that the activities were planned and organized young people who reside in the state. Further, the members of the state’s legislature, traditional leaders, and community members “pitched-in” into the activities and showed their support and appreciation of the effort of the youth.Joseph further added that the youth had shown that they are willing and are able to keep off alcohol and drugs as indicated in activities they organized and participated in. Moreover, the youth have shown to be responsible.Joseph said that he especially grateful for of all the individuals and agencies – Mr. and Mrs. Norman Sato, Meked Besebes, John Ngiraibeochel, Marlene Aguon, Helen Moros, Marcella Imetengel, Tadao Ngotel, Dilmai Saiske, Joan H. Demei, Marhence Madrangchar, Don Bukurrou, Harper Skang, Kerai Mariur, Johnson Toribiong, Ismael Aguon, Kalistus Wasisang, Pastor Paulus Swei, Imochoang James Ultirakl, Senator Hokkons Baules, Dixie Tmetuchl, Tet Singich Sato, Governor Browny Salvador, Obak Er a Iyebukel Lorenzo Ngiramolau, Rimirch Hayes Ngirateked, Vice President Elias C. Chin, Council on Substance Abuse Prevention, and the State Incentive Grant – who with their generous support and significant presence made the youth effort all the worthwhile. Joseph commended Ngirailild for her diligent and tenacious effort to ensure that the youth programs in the state are fruitful and further thanked all the youth who worked with her to make the July 26 activities successful.“Each and every person in the state [Ngarchelong] should make it a personal agenda to ensure that our children’s lives and their future are not damaged as a result – direct or indirect – of alcohol and substance abuse,” Joseph said. “We must promote a drug free future for our children and we must begin now.”
