As a result of the confiscation, three Chinese nationals were cited for the manufacture and sale of the taro wines by inspectors of the Alcohol and Tobacco Office.
Given citations for the illegal manufacture and sale of rice wines are Yu Tai Zhong, Mingcai Xu and Liu Xian Wei.One of them was caught inside the bathroom of the Pegasus KTV bottling the taro wine.The inspector said that Zhong was found to have been using the license of another person to sell his bottles of wine.Mingcai Xu meanwhile was caught cooking the wine in a place in Airai. The inspectors confiscated the equipment use for manufacturing the wine.Xu was working with Liu to sell the taro wines.The division confiscated at least seven cases of the products from various establishments.The inspectors said that fine is up to $600.An investigation is still being conducted to determine appropriate charges to be filed against the violators.The Division of Labor and the Tax Office inspectors also jointly conducted the confiscation.The division sought the public’s help in curbing such illegal acts by calling their office for any information.The inspectors warned that inspections are routinely conducted by the office to ensure that the law os being followed properly.
