Another newly arrived passenger tests positive for Covid-19

ONE additional individual has been confirmed positive for Covid-19 which brings the CNMI total to 144 cases since March 28, 2020, the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. said Tuesday.

The individual was identified by travel screening and confirmed diagnosis through fifth day testing, CHCC added.

The individual has been safely in quarantine and was moved to the designated isolation area for close monitoring, CHCC said.

CHCC “has already initiated contact tracing for the most immediate contacts of the new confirmed case, including passengers on the same flight.”

As of March 2, 2021, CHCC said one person was in isolation and 150 persons have been released from isolation per CHCC medical and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

Two deaths were reported in March and April 2020.

Of the CNMI’s total number of Covid-19 cases, 10 were diagnosed through community testing, 16 through contact testing, and 118 through travel screening: 73 were from the U.S. mainland, 32 from a U.S. territory, and 13 from a foreign country.

“It has been 196 days since the last community transmission,” CHCC said on Tuesday.

On Guam, the Joint Information Center said there were  five new cases of Covid-19. Three of the cases reported recent travel history and were identified in quarantine.

To date, on Guam, there have been a total of 7,742 officially reported cases of Covid-19 with 131 deaths, 31 cases in active isolation, and 7,580 not in active isolation.
