Another round of electricity increase this week

The PPUC in a statement said that there will be an increase in the electric rates by 2.1 cents in response to the various “factors driving our electric rates, which factors include the price of fuel and engine conditions.”

The PPUC said that the following new rates will apply for billings issued on or after August 1, 2009.For residential areas consuming 0 to 500 kwh the rate will now be from 19.2 cents  to 21.3 cents, while  residential consumers  with use of   501-2000 kwh will now pay from 27.2 cents  to       29.3 cents while those who consumers more that 2001 kwh  will be charged from 31.7 cents to 33.8 cents.In July, PPUC also announced an increase by implementing a    3.9 cents increase in   electric rates.PPUC said the increase in July was due to fuel and engine conditions.In July, for residential areas the new rate will be from 15.3 cents to 19.2 cents; residential costumers consuming 501 kwh to 2,000 kwh will now have a new rate of 23.3 cents to 27.2 cents while residential costumers consuming more than 2001 kwh will have a new rate from 27.8 cents to 31.7 cents and the same rate goes to the commercial and government consumers.
