The Dewill to live & Dewill a renguk to live campaign is a partnership of Ministry of Health and Bureau of Public Safety and the community.
The campaign aims to promote responsible driving to save life.Pearl Marumoto of the Ministry of Health said that Dewill to live campaign is targeting young people while Dewill a renguk campaign is targeting adult individuals.She said the campaign will promote no drinking and driving.She said there will be billboards and posters to inform the public of this drive.Marumoto said there will be students holding the Dewill signs at different schools from December 1 towards the month of January.Students from PMS, SDA Elementary School, Meyuns Elementary School, PHS and PCC will hold signs at the old OEK area, at the causeway, at the Ministry of Education and at the public gym.The unvailing of statue of Dewill Reklai will also occur on December 23 at the intersection of the Ngermid.The family of Dewill Reklai is also involved in the campaign.Dewill Reklai was only minor when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a drunk driver identified as Tatsuo Adachi in 2007.Adachi was charged with involuntary manslaughter and Driving vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor. He entered into a plea agreement and pleaded guilty to the charges.He was sentenced to three years and seven months of imprisonment but six months will be suspended.Adachi served his unsuspended sentence on February 25 at 6 pm and will be released on March 25, 2011 at 6 pm.
