THE Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation on Tuesday unanimously confirmed the nomination of Daniel I. Aquino as the third member of the Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council, and the reappointments of Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance board chairman Oscar M. Babauta and vice chairman Juan K. Tenorio.
Babauta, speaking on behalf of the SHEFA board, said they “wish to convey our appreciation to the hardworking Judiciary and Governmental Operation chair and its members in addressing through a public hearing our nominations as well as the appointment of Danny Aquino to the municipal council. Thank you for enduring the legislative process and coming up with a decision this morning.”
Prior to the roll-call vote, Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang thanked the JGO chairwoman, Sen. Edith Deleon Guerrero, and the committee members for expediting the confirmation process.
The mayor earlier asked the delegation members to confirm the nominations of Aquino, Babauta and Tenorio “so we can get to work and start tackling all the issues that we have.”
All three are appointees of the mayor.
SHEFA board member Frank Cabrera also thanked the delegation members.
He said SHEFA is faced with challenges and now that Babauta and Tenorio have been confirmed, “we can tackle the financial impact we are facing.”
