“The meeting was held to become familiarize with the fire equipments of the two divisions, what ARFF’s equipments available to use for fire rescue as well as on how to join our forces during emergency response, especially at the airport.” BOA director Charles I. Obichang said in an interview.
ARFF introduced its fire equipments and the DOFR as well during the meeting.
Obichang added that this was the first time that the two divisions held a meeting. However he explained that it has nothing to do with the fire incidents happened last month.
“The purpose of the meeting is to know each other and become acquainted with the fire equipments we use.” Obichang added.
It can be recalled that during the huge fire incident that broke out last month, ARFF fighters gave assistance with the fire personnel. ARFF used their fire fighting gears to extinguish fire.
Obichang also said during the commendation of ARFF fighters that they are willing to share their knowledge and training with the DOFR.
On Oct.15, meanwhile a fire drill exercises will be conducted at the airport. But prior to fire exercises a table top will be held on Oct. 14.
Obichang said the fire drill will be held in collaboration with the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
Among the presents during the meeting were the Ministry of Health, National Emergency Management Office (NEMO), Bureau of Public Works, Red Cross, and Representatives from Airlines, Palau National Communications Corporation, Airport tenants, Environmental Quality Protection Board and other government agencies, among others.
