DURING spring break, Bayani Association restored and rehabilitated the Garapan Elementary School playground. The basketball court surface was painted with non-slip sports paint, and the backboard and rim were replaced. The soccer goal post was likewise repaired, and a new volleyball net was provided with repainted poles.

Through ARPA funding, the United Filipino Organization under the leadership of  Birhen Martinez, funded these Bayani Association projects.

A new, revitalized playground  improves students’ safety, raises their physical activity levels and enriches their lives and well-being. They can now explore and enjoy the playground daily, which provides them an opportunity to practice an active lifestyle while safely engaged in recreational opportunities that encourage social interaction among the students.

“We are so grateful to the individuals and companies that assisted us with these projects: the Northern Marianas Sports Association, Micronesia Renewable Energy Inc. CNMI, Celnap Ent., Realty Management Services, Ronald De Ramos, Project Coordinator Mario Mayuga and the United Filipino Organization,”  Bayani Association President Annamae Adaza said.

“We are also grateful to our dedicated members and to the GES principal, Mr. Derwin Johnson, for allowing us to rehabilitate the playground,” she added.

For her part, the Bayani Association Gandang Pinay grand winner, Kriselle Bryana Mitzy A. Drilon, donated various balls to the school as her way of giving back to the community.

The Bayani Association is a non-profit organization under the umbrella of the United Filipino Organization which is committed to serving and creating projects beneficial to the community.
