Belau hospital has now chapel

President Remengesau Jr. and the late Senator’s wife Tua Tmetuchl headed the ribbon cutting ceremony for the hospital’s chapel.Children headed by Senator Mlib Tmetuchl and relatives accompanied Mrs. Tmetuchl.It was the Tmetuchl family who built the chapel in honor of the late Senator and to continue his legacy.The ground breaking of the chapel took placed on February 11, 2008 during the birthday of the late Senator.The family and the officials of the hospital decided to open the chapel on July 1, which is also the 9th death anniversary of Senator Roman Tmetuchl.Mrs. Tmetuchl said she and her family were happy for doing something for the community.Mrs. Tmetuchl in her speech said she and her family have been blessed with good health, farm and business, that’s why they wanted to give back by building the chapel.“I feel great that we did something for the Lord and that’s our main focus to give back. We’re glad that the hospital gave us the chance to build this chapel for the use of different people mainly to praise God and we’re just returning the blessings that God gave us,”Mrs. Tmetuchl said in an interview after the ceremony.Director of the Bureau of Hospital and Clinical Services, Dr. Gregory Dever recalled how he first met the late Senator and how he was moved by his kindness.Dr. Dever said the chapel has been a long time dream and he thanked the Tmetuchl family for their generosity and for making it a dream come true.President Remengesau Jr. for his part said that the plan to build a chapel did not materialize long time ago due to lack of funding.The President and Public Health Minister Dr. Victor Yano handed Mrs. Tmetuchl a plaque of appreciation during the ceremony.Sen. Roman Tmetuchl’s daughter, Rmeriang Tmetuchl did closing hymns.Nick Ngwal emceed the ceremony.Vice President Elias Camsek Chin, Senate Floor Leader Alan Seid, Senate Vice President Mlib Tmetuchl, Senator Alfonso Diaz and presidential hopeful Johnson Toribiong were all present at the said ceremony.
