The proposed bill will mete out some penalties for minors who are convicted of underage drinking.
The senator is proposing that the minor’s driving privileges should be curtailed for 60 days and the minor should be required to attend alcohol and drug education programs.
The proposed changes also include requiring the minor to attend alcohol and drug education programs and mandating the minor perform community service.
The measure also proposed that the manager or employee of the premises which sold alcohol to the minor will also be held liable.
The measure also puts in place protection on minor by including a provision which stated that a minor found to be in violation of the law “shall not be required, whether it be a condition of probation, suspended sentence, or negotiated plea agreement or as a penalty for conviction, to perform any act that in any way publicizes the minor’s underage drinking or the minor’s conviction.”
