Senate Bill 8-6 SD1 stated that a state government ay enact laws that provide penalties for violations of state laws but the monetary penalty shall not exceed $500.
The bill was introduced because current statute bars the states from imposing penalties on state law violations that exceed $100.The current law prevents the state governments from effectively providing controls on conduct within their states. The bill said that that the OEK finds the restriction no longer necessary and states that should have discretion to establish a penalty in an appropriate amount. The national government will be assisting state governments in enforcing and prosecuting violations of state laws.
