Body of man found in CK

THE body of a missing man was found in Chalan Kanoa on Friday, Department of Public Safety Assistant Chief of Police Simon Manacop said.

“The body was in an advanced stage of decomposition,” he added.

He said the body was found by family members who then reported it to the police.

“We cannot determine — we can’t tell right now whether there was foul play or if the deceased died of natural causes,” Manacop said.

On Friday, members of DPS’s crime investigation unit were at the scene,  a vacant lot near the Triple J Store in Chalan Kanoa, searching for clues.

Some family members of the deceased — a Chuukese who had been missing for weeks — told reporters that they came to the same area two weeks ago looking for the man but did not find him.

When the family members returned to the area on Friday, they found his body.

No additional information regarding the deceased was available as of press time Sunday.
