BPS is now upgrading Radio Communication System

BPS Director Norvert Yano said that they got new GPS system now which can monitor police car even if it’s not within Koror area.

“The system will tell us where the police car is at and we can monitor it through the police central. Before our communication is just within Koror but now we can cover the entire Palau from Angaur to Kayangel,” Yano said.

Yano said the grant is worth $1.9 million and was funded by the Taiwan government.

The Director said the Patrol Division is also undergoing a renovation as part of the upgrading process.

“New monitors and new computers will be put in so they want to make it look better that’s why the place was renovated,” Yano said.

He said the system was already installed and the renovation is almost done.

“We will have formal handover ceremony and opening of the new Patrol central office next week,”the Director said.

The renovation and the installment of the new system started in June 12, 2009. The contractor was Top Earth Technology Corp.
