BPS Director Norvert H. Yano said that election year has resulted in a number of billboards and signs being towed in trailer carts or transported in backs of pick up trucks across the country.
Persons, often young people have been seen standing in the back of pick up trucks or sitting around the edges or sides of pick up truck bedding.BPS said Title 42 of the Palau National Code restricted improper transport of persons in the bed of the truck.The law stated that no person being transported in the beds of pick up shall sit on or higher than the upper edge of the side of the truck bed or shall stand anywhere on the truck bed.Anybody who would be caught violating this law would pay a fine of $25.Under the same code, Title 42 of the Palau National Code, Obstruction of driver’s view or driving mechanism is also restricted.The law prohibits anyone to drive any vehicle when such vehicle is so loaded as to obstruct the view of the driver to the front or sides or to interfere with the driver’s control over the driving mechanism of the vehicle.The law stated that no more than two persons, including the driver, shall be seated in the front seat of any jeep and no more than three persons including the driver shall be seated in the front seat of any other type of vehicle except that one child under seven years of age may be seated in addition to the said numbers stated aboveYano said for any questions and information the public can call him at 4882423 or his cellphone at 7757939.
