Bureau of Human Resources Development Director Rinsang Rechirei said they regularly matching their records with the BOI and in a couple of weeks they will completely finished fixing the discrepancy.
“We narrowed down the discrepancy because the positive step we are doing now with the Bureau of Immigration.” Rechirei said in an interveiw.
The discrepancy between the two agencies occurred because of the so called “lack of coordination.”
According to the information, the BOI’s record is higher than the record of BOL.
“The Immigration is the agency that controls the border of Palau and the outside world, there are situations where workers leave, and we have no information that they were already left and so we continue think that they are still in Palau.” Rechirei said in an interview.
In the meeting conducted last week, the BOI and the BOL identified some causes of discrepancy and they ended up for the suggestion and recommendation to fix the problems.
Rechirei said the discrepancy is now lessened. It’s only less than hundred from previously thousands.
The BOL controls all foreign workers or non- resident workers, the BOI works on the other hand is to make sure that those foreign workers are documented, aside from controlling the tourists, dependents, spouses, and other status.
