Casino commission requires employees to get Covid-19 vaccine

THE Commonwealth Casino Commission chairman on Wednesday issued an order requiring all CCC employees to get the Covid-19 vaccine.

Commission Chairman Edward C. Deleon Guerrero signed Commission Order No. 2021-001, instructing Executive Director Andrew Yeom to take the steps he deems necessary to ensure that all the commission employees either complete the Covid-19 vaccination or obtain an approved exemption accommodation.

Yeom is required to report to the commission monthly the percentage of employees who have completed the vaccine. He is also authorized to grant a request from employees for an exemption — medical or religious.

Also, subject to availability of funds, the executive director may grant administrative leave with pay for the time spent in obtaining the Covid-19 vaccine.

The order states, “Neither the executive director nor any employee may retaliate against an employee who seeks an accommodation pursuant to the order.”

Besides the casino commission, the Commonwealth Ports Authority and the executive branch have also required their employees to get the Covid-19 vaccine.
