The board, which is comprised of representatives of the states that are served by the super dispensaries, has been meeting with relevant members of the Ministry of Health to identify and correct oversights in the federal grant application and the implementation of the grant, which if left unattended could have significant adverse effects in the operations of the community health centers.
There are currently 4 fully operational CHCs in Palau – located in Ngarchelong, Ngeremlengui, Melekeok, and Peleliu. Recently, an additional CHC has been erected in Airai.According to members of the CHC Governing Board, certain aspects of the terms and conditions of a grant that funds the operation of the CHCs were overlooked and must be addressed accordingly in order that the CHCs will be able to continue to receive funding.Members of the CHC Governing Board, in collaborative effort with relevant personnel of the Ministry of Health, are diligently working to ensure that the administration of the grant is aligned with the requirements of the US Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and consequently, prevent further compromises to the community health centers and the people they serve.
