CHCC: 18 new Covid-19 cases

(CHCC) — Eighteen  additional individuals have been confirmed positive for Covid-19, bringing the CNMI total to 3,665 cases since March 28, 2020. The individuals have been isolated and are actively monitored.

Of the 18 cases, 16 were identified on Jan. 9, 2022 (2 on Rota); 2 on Jan. 8, 2022. Eight were identified via contact tracing; 4 via community testing; and 6 via travel testing.

As of Jan. 10, 2022, there were 10 individuals hospitalized as a result of Covid-19: 5 unvaccinated, 5 vaccinated, 1 on a ventilator and 2 discharged.

A total of 286 Covid-19 vaccine shots were administered on Jan. 10, 2022, resulting in 97% of the CNMI’s eligible population being fully vaccinated.

The vaccination statuses of the 18 new cases identified are pending verification.

A total of 453 Covid-19 tests were conducted on Jan. 9, 2022:

142 community-based testing

83 at the Covid-19 Community Center (referrals only)

228 at Rota Health Center

Of the cases identified since Oct. 28, 2021, as of Jan. 9, 2022:

2,944 recoveries

413 active cases

17 Covid-19-related deaths

Since Oct. 28, 2021, there have been 3,374 cases:

1,644 were identified via contact tracing

1,608 via community testing

122 via travel testing
